On Sunday, the crypto market maintained its uptrend, with bitcoin (BTC) breaking beyond USD 45,000 for the first time since May and ethereum (ETH) breaking through USD 3,000. Dogecoin (DOGE) is now the best performing coin among the top 100 cryptoassets.
At 09:34 UTC, BTC is trading at USD 44,693, down from USD 45,242 earlier today. The price has now risen by 2% in a single day and 7% in a week, bringing its monthly gains to 30%. It is still down 31% from its all-time high (ATH) set in April.
Meanwhile, freshly upgraded ETH improved its weekly gains to 23 percent, while it is down 28 percent from its all-time high in May. It is currently trading at USD 3,136, up 4% in a single day.
At the same time, DOGE gained about 22 percent today, reaching USD 0.266, bringing its weekly gains to 24 percent. It is still down by 64% from its all-time high, which was hit in May.
Other cryptoassets in the top ten are having a mixed day today.
“A sense of optimism appears to have returned to cryptocurrency markets,” according to Paolo Ardoino, Chief Technology Officer of Bitfinex. “Bitcoin is leading the assault, while Ethereum is gaining ground.” Nonetheless, “the turmoil that we’ve seen in crypto markets in recent weeks is unlikely to subside,” according to Ardoino.
